The Ministry recommends that Tatarstanians buy live birds only in designated areas

23 May 2019, Thursday

Sales of live chickens, ducks and geese to private farms of the republic are intensified in the republic with the onset of the warm season and the beginning of the summer season. Realization goes both in specially designated and unauthorized points of sale. Often there are cases when a car loaded with birds moves from one place to another. For this reason, in 2018, cases of avian influenza were recorded in six districts of the Trans-Volga zone of the republic.

In order to avoid the spread of bird flu, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan, together with the Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor and the General Administration of Veterinary Medicine, carries out measures to organize the sale of poultry in designated areas and only if there are veterinary accompanying documents. Heads of municipal districts are recommended to pay particular attention to this issue, to work with traffic police officers, as well as heads of rural settlements.

The ministry strongly recommends to purchase live poultry only in places specifically set aside for this, and also pay attention to the availability of veterinary documents.
