Forage preservation is gaining pace in Tatarstan. Favourable weather facilitates fodder making so farmers are working hard. As of July 19, 2017, 2,057,900 tons of haylage and 256,600 tons of hay were made in the republic, which is 761,600 tons of fodder units or 12.9 ha of fodder units per animal.

The leading districts in forage making are Sarmanovo (22.3 dt of fodder units per cattle animal), Zainsk (18.3 dt), Bugulma (15.5 dt), Apastovo (15.2 dt) and Novosheshminsk (15 dt) municipal districts of the Republic of Tatarstan.
