A seminar on the cultivation of corn and sunflower was held in Alkeevsky district

On September 11, a seminar-meeting on the cultivation of corn and sunflower was held on corn fields near the village of Chuvash Brod, Alkeevsky District. The workshop was actively attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildus Gabdrakhmanov, the head of the Alkeevsky District Alexander Nikoshin and the academician of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences Vladimir Sotchenko.

During the seminar, farmers examined demonstration crops of corn, studied hybrids of corn and sunflower, got acquainted with methods of threshing corn for grain, and also learned how to harvest corn cobs and threshing using various combines and accessories.

Ildus Gabdrakhmanov focused on the importance of acquiring quality seeds that passed phytosanitary control. “It also allows avoiding the introduction of quarantine weeds and pests,” Ildus Gabdrakhmanov added.

According to current data, as of September 12, a total of 7,000 ha of corns were sown in the Alkeevsky district, 6,100 ha and more than 12 thousand ha of sunflower were sown on silage. In total, the harvested area (without corn for grain) in the Alkeevsky district is 33.6 thousand hectares, 95% of which is threshed today, 79 thousand tons of grain are threshed. Harvesting of rape, buckwheat and millet, as well as sowing of winter crops, continues.
